A Spark of Interest in Color Analysis

“I Discovered My True Spring Palette & It Suddenly Just Made Sense!”

As someone who was improperly analyzed the first time, I have first hand experience with the power of color- the right ones & the wrong ones!

When I was wearing True Summer colors, it dulled my complexion, left me looking tired and brought out my dark circles. After training and draping myself a True Spring, it all made sense!

Why I Believe in the Power of Color

Colors, color everywhere!  As a boutique owner of 9 years, I can absolutely tell you which colors sell best during each season.  Sometimes these change with seasonal trends but you better bet that in the summer we can sell pink & light blue.  In the fall, olive, brown and so many cream sweaters will fly off the racks.  This spring/summer season we've seen lilac trend and butter yellow is the color of summer.  Last summer I'm unsure if we had even a handful of yellow items all season long.  One thing is for sure, people know what they want!  Some colors are timeless while we see others come and go.

Last summer I went down the rabbit hole that is color analysis.  Some of you are reading this because you're somewhat curious and some of you will deeply understand that when I say I went down the rabbit hole, it is a very long and deep hole.  What started out with me learning about individual dominant color characteristics ended up with me in Canada (travelled alone, I might add) in a class draping a bunch of strangers for a long weekend.

Six month into the journey, I had been living my best life as a true summer (from a previous analysis) when I learned that I am in fact, a true spring.  I could talk about that journey forever but I'll get to the point and say that when we are intuitive & in the wrong colors, something just feels off.  I remember saying in my original analysis, "Are you sure this is my palette? I feel a little dull."  I can also recall several instances when I felt like I looked tired in the summer grays & purples.  I made the switch to the light & warm colors of spring and felt right at home.  This is the thing:  a true summer looks fabulous in their light, cool & soft colors.  A true spring is drained by them.  Trust your intuition!  A color analysis is fun & a great confirmation to have but you likely have some intuition about what works best for you.

One of my favorite things about owning a boutique is giving people those feel good, happy, confidence boosting moments when they buy a dress that makes them look like a million bucks or they leave with a trendy outfit for a special event.  To me, knowing about color is just another tool to help people glow with confidence.

My absolute favorite thing about knowing my season is how my closet is coming together so that so many things mix and match!  Suddenly, it's all working together!

I spent 7 years in the classroom and am a teacher at heart.  I can't wait to share so many tips for each season.  Think all things clothing, makeup, jewelry & more!
